For nearly four decades, Ted's Bar has been more than just a pub — it's been the gathering place for a community, a stage for musicians, and a home away from home for visitors from around the world.
Ted O'Malley opened the doors to what would become an Achill Island institution. With just four tables and a passion for good craic, Ted's Bar was born.
What started as occasional sessions became a weekly tradition. The Sunday traditional music night was born, and it continues to this day.
Growing demand led to a major renovation. The kitchen was expanded, the bar doubled in size, and Ted's became known for its food as much as its pints.
Our beloved mascot made his first appearance. What started as a joke became the face of the bar — friendly, welcoming, and always up for the craic.
Ted's son Sean took over the reins, bringing fresh energy while honouring the traditions that make Ted's special. The Achill Market was launched, supporting local artisans.
